196. Don Carlos Driggs was born on 20 November 1864 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Utah, USA. He died on 14 September 1933 at the age of 68 in Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona, USA. Graduated from BYU and for several years asso ciated with his father in mercantile business at Pleasant Grove. In Jul y 1889 he left with his bride for Idaho where they built a logcabin a s a home in Teton Valley. Nine children were born to the couple. Unde r his leadership a community was built to be named Driggs, Idaho. He ser ved in the Idaho legislature, as postmaster at Driggs by appointmentof Pr esident Grover Cleveland, and as county commissioner. In his church, Lat ter-day Saints, he was Stake President 20years. At age 57 he decided t o dispose of his Idaho holdings and move his family to Phoenix, AZ. In A Z his buisness was confined to savings and loan industry. He and his son s built Western Savings & Loan Association into Arizona's largest such fi nancial institution.
