984. Douglas Harmon Driggs was born on 8 April 1901 in Driggs, Teton, Idaho, USA. He died on 25 January 1997 at the age of 95 in Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona. He was buried in Scottsdale, Maricopa, Arizona. Douglas has Ancestral File Number 65VQ-4X. S:PPU P14346

Douglas Driggs' school was at Driggs, Idaho, and University of Utah as w ell as a business college in Salt Lake City. In 1921, he took a job in t he small Traders Bank at Wickenburg, Arizona, later becoming a teller fo r the National Bank of Arizona in Phoenix. Early in 1929, he helped org anize the Western Building and Loan Association of Phoenix, becoming it s first secretary as well as an incorporator with his father, Don C. Drig gs, brothers Elwood and Golden Driggs, B.C. Straughan and W. R. Curry. A t the death of his father in 1933, Douglas was named president, and toda y [1971] Western Savings & Loan Association is the largest in Arizona.
He served as director for three years of Federal Home Loan Bank of Los A ngeles. An active Rotarian since 1934 with 23 years perfect attendance r ecord, marred only by a serious auto accident in 1957. He was presiden t of Theodore Roosevelt Council Boy Scouts of America in 1954 and 1960 an d holds the Silver Beaver Award.
Two rather special honors came to Douglas in 1969. For the first time i n history of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Arizona Cha pter, two awards were given to outstanding citizens instead of one. The y were handed to Douglas and his brother, Junius. Then, in Hawaii in Ma y 1969 he was elected Governor of District 549, Rotary International.

Douglas Harmon Driggs and Effie Olena Killian were married on 31 August 1926 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA. Effie Olena Killian was born on 22 November 1899 in Thatcher, , Arizona, USA. She died on 14 January 1989 at the age of 89 in Paradise Valley, Maricopa, Arizona. S:PPU sp P14346
