1. Information from obituary:
Mark was born October 17, 1906 in Albion, Idaho, one of four sons t o Wesley and Alba Walton. He
grew up on ranches in southeast Idaho and enlisted in the US Marin e Corps in 1925. He served as
an orderly for the US Navy Commander-in-chief, Henry A. Wiley and i s mentioned in Admiral Wiley's
book,"An Admiral from Texas", for saving the Admiral's life whil e serving on the USS Texas,
flagship of the entire Navy at that time. After being discharged f or wounds received while on duty at
sea, he worked for the US Postal Exchange of the service and for t he United Cigar Company of
New York City.
He married Veronica Ramsey, who later died. Due to his lun g injury, he then returned to Idaho
and married a childhood acquaintance, Mary Fuch, on March 15, 193 7 in Logan, Utah.
For 37 years he was a salesman for the WT Raleigh compan y in Eastern Idaho and they lived
for 23 years of that time at Blackfoot where Mark and Mary were ve ry active members of the
Blackfoot Methodist church.
Because of his excellent record in salesmanship, Mark rec eived a the award of a trip to the
New York World's Fair in 1964.
He also served as a councilman in American Falls, Idaho , where he built a greenhouse and
nursery. They lived in northern Idaho in Coeur d'Alene for a ti me, where Mark built a trailer court
and was a guide taking people on fishing and hunting trips.
They moved to Bothell, Washington, where he worked for t he Molbak Greenhouse. His skill
in raising plants contributed greatly to the success of that ent erprise. From Bothell they moved to
Meridian, Idaho in 1974 where they have since resided.
Mark wasa self taught painter and had completed over 6 00 works of art. As a member of
the Odd Fellow Lodge, he served a Noble Grand and Grand Marshall . He was a faithful
member of the Meridian United Methodist Church and love people wh om he enjoyed helping.
He was also an avid outdoorsman.
Mark is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; one son , Lawrence Walton; one brother,
Richard Walton of Yakima, Washington; six grandchildren; 9 grea t grandchildren and many
cousins, nieces and nephews. His daughter, Mary Ann Byers, tw o brothers and one grandson
preceded him in death.
