Her father, a voice teache r and classical musician, trained his children to play various instrument s and booked them for appearances around the West as "The Driggs Family o f Entertainers." Clarke and two others, Maxine and Louise, spun off int o "The Boswell Sisters" to increase the family income during the Depressi on. Later, Maxine retired, and Donna and Yvonne joined. With another si ster, Marilyn, and a friend, they billed themselves as "The Six King Sist ers." Eventually the group jelled into a quartet with Alyce, Donna, Loui se and Yvonne known simply as the King Sisters. They earned a Grammy fo r their recording of "Imagination." Clarke's rich alto was considered th e best voice in the family." Alyce Golda Driggs and Sydney de Azevedo were married on 29 June 1941 in New York City, New York, New York, USA.
