When WWII broke out he was called to serve in the Infantry division . He went to training camp and was ready to board ship to go over seas w hen the Armistice was signed. He returned home in 1918 and stayed home f or a short time and then went to work on the highway near Roy, Idaho. H e was put in as raod Boss and they used horse and mules to do the work . The completed road had a gravel surface.
