(Note: His daughter, Lavern G. Pratt, age 16, single is living with her g randparents, Orlon Graham. Pratt and Amy Williamson Pratt, and is liste d with them in the 1930 census. The 1930 census says that Lavern and he r parents were born in Utah. (she was born about 1914). That brings up t he question of why she was living with her grandparents and had the othe r children been farmed out also? I cannot find the other children canno t be found in the1930 census.

"Orland J. Pratt, a resident of Paradise [Butte county, California] fo r the past eihgt months died early this morning at the Enloe hospital whr e he had been confined for the past ten days. Pratt was born in Salt Lak e City, Utah in 1893, and was the grandson of Orson Pratt, one of the fir st pioneers to settle inthe Utah valley, a membr of he Chruch of the Latt er Day Saints. Prior to coming to Paradise he had been a resident of E l Cerrito, fo rmore than 25 years [~1917-1942], where he was engaged in c ontract printing and interior decorating. Surviving him are his wife, Cl arie of Paradise, three children: Mrs. LaVerne Peterson of Berkeley, Pvt . Leon Pratt of the U.S. Army stationed at Santa Ross airdrome, and Willi am Carson of Richmond; two sisters: Mrs. J. H. Ludwig of San Bruno and Mr s. harry Olophant of El Cerrito; three brothers: Grant Pratt of Oakland ; Roy Pratt of Alameda and Earl Pratt of San Leandro. Friends are invite d to attend the funeral; services t be held at the Black and Johnson Fune ral home on Monday morning at 10"30 o'clock. Interment will follow in th e Paradise cmetery under the auspices of Paradise Grange No. 490 of whic h Pratt was a member. [a Grange is a Farmer's Association all over the US ).
