She has had 4 children, all ar living in 1900. (It is strange that she is listed as a widow, but her husband, Henry C. Bowen did not die until 1906, 6 years later. He is listed as a widower in the 1900 census for Fostoria City, Seneca Co., Ohio. He is listed as age 59, born Nov 1840, in Ohio which is correct).

>1923, age 78, died in Beloit, Wisconsin, Buried in Eastlawn Cemetery. Her headstone reads: "Aurilla Bowen 1844-1923." She is buried there in the same plot with her children, Lilly Elene Bowen (Burnap), Henry N. Bowen; Hellen J. Bowen (Crossly)(Fritz); and Zetus Bowen.
>1923, Obituary "Beloit Daily News" Wed. May 16, 1923, "Mrs. Aurilla F. Bowen, 78, died at the home of her son, Zetus Bowen, 2119 Porter Avenue, last night shortly before 6 o'clock following a stroke of paralysis. Mrs Bowen was born in Huron county, Ohio, May 21, 1844. She came to Beloit from Ohio in 1919. Besides the son with whom she made her home, she is survived by a son, Henry Bowen, Groveland, Florida, and two daughters, Mrs. Lilla Burnap, and Mrs. Helen Fritz, bothe of Beloit. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the home, the Rev. E.J. Evans officiating. Interment will be in the East Lawn cemetery."

Certificate #14. There are 14 marriage certificates in a row that were not completed. The certificate stub which is filled in when the certificate was applied for has the date of March 13, 1866. That is the day they applied for the certificate. Since the certificate was never filled in, we do not know the date of the marriage. It would probably have been just a few days later.

The places his unit served are described in the web site: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm. The unit served mostly in Kentucky. Lost 6 men killed in action, 164 died from disease.

All the article says about him is that he was from Beloit and was driving a car that was sideswiped by another car. The driver of the other car had his arm torn off. >1961 died (age 80). Beloit, Rock Co., Wisc. Death certificate says he was born in Omar, Seneca Co., Ohio. (Omar is now Attica). It Says that he was never married. His Social Security number was 396-07-1641. Informant of death was Mrs. Harold Gleason. Zetus was never in the armed service. His mother was Aurilla Pratt. Father unknown on the death cert. Burial was by Schoenfeld Funeral Home in Beloit, Wisc. >Death notice in The Beloit Daily News October 28, 1961 Zetus Bowen, 80, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Blair House Nursing Home after a long illness. Arrangments are being made by the Schoenfeld Funeral Home. >He was buried in the Eastlawn Cemetery, Beloit, Ohio. He is buried next to his mother and 3 siblings. His headstone reads: "Zetus E. Bowen 1882 - 1961"
