January 1st, 1857.-
A letter from my brother Nelson announces that all is well there, and the y are overjoyed to hear that I am to visit them. He is trying to sell an d go to the valley.
Brother Orson writes to me that all is well with him.
I have gone as far East as I intend to go. I hope soon to commence to ret urn westward, visiting my brother Nelson as I go.
February 1857:
Wednesday, 4th.- Stayed at a hotel, and on the 6th took train at 12 M. an d arrived at Hanover, Huron County, Ohio, at 4 P.M. Here a neighbor volun teered to carry me half a mile to my brother, Nelson Pratt’s. We were ove rjoyed to see each other after twenty-one years’ absence. He had a wife a nd three children living, viz: a son, Edwin Delano Pratt, aged twenty yea rs; and two daughters, Helen Orisa, aged fourteen, and Aurelia Fenetto, a ged twelve years. Remained and visited with my brother and family; talked , read, reasoned, etc., until the 11th, when I had a call from a young sc hool teacher named Pratt, perhaps a distant relative, who had a spirit o f inquiry and was teachable. We conversed much, and I lent him some books . As he and others were soliciting a meeting, I finally consented to appo int one for Thursday evening at the school house near my brother’s. In fu lfilment of this appointment I preached to a large congregation in a capa cious school house.
Friday, 13th.-At noon took leave of my brother Nelson and his family, wh o accompanied me to the railroad station, and bid me an affectionate fare well.

Spaulding was born on 24 September 1820 in Albany, Orleans Co., Vermont, USA.¹ She died on 31 December 1847 at the age of 27 in Peru, Huron Co., Ohio, USA. She was buried in Norwich Twp, Huron, Ohio, USA. >She apparently lived in Roxana, Eaton, Michigan at one time. She coul d have been born there, but the 1880 US census for Ohio says that she wa s born in Vermont. Windsor is just a guess.
